My eyes were sore, darting from one title to the next, quickly communicating to my mind the long list of literature I’d have to come back and explore on my next trip to the bookstore. The escalator carried me higher and toward deeper thought as to why I was actually interested in all of these books. Do I really have time for all this fascination with (well, let’s face it) EVERYTHING???
Consumer versus producer. How much, like what specific percentage of my time, do I want to dedicate toward consuming things and how does that weigh in the total ratio compared to things in which I produce?
I got to the top of the floor before I finished my thought and - true to form- became distracted by yet another interesting thing that got caught in my line of vision.

Alternative forms of communication become necessary when conventional techniques (voice, body language) are compromised due to variety of circumstances.
This super cool technology is still in its infancy though moving fwd due to grant money and such. Basically, the idea is to have a person use their tongue as a mouse and the teeth as keyboards, eventually. By tracking the movements, even on a basic level, the technology allows a person who may not have been able to communicate in any other way to now answer basic yes/no questions.
There has been movement to utilize eye movements but it was found to be costly, slow and likely for mixed signals. (We certainly dont need any more mixed signals!)
BTW, I dont exactly know the segue for this except some neuron in my head connected the movie Le Scaphandre et le papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.) Various assistive technology techniques are used to enable this former editor-in-chief of Elle magazine to write a book, despite his movement being limited to only his head and left eye.

So grandma’s back from the hospital and doing fabulous. (thank goodness, b/c she said the coffee there really sucked.)
She will, however, take a couple weeks to recover before getting back to video chat and other such things.

I know I said I would to take a few days, but just couldn’t resist a link to Popular Science and their article about robot aliens.
Yup. Robot aliens. More than 50/50 chance, no less. (Um, should I be worried about this?)

“Lots of amphibians (a third to a half of all species) are dying, and their deaths are the breaking-edge of what many scientists are calling the first mass extinction since the dinosaurs checked out 65 million years ago, researchers say in a new paper published online in the Journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.”
So, they say its like a climate change or whatev but i know its direct result of all the little froggies ppl mutilate each semester in HS biology class. Poor froggies.
