A Venn Diagram (John Venn) is an illustration that shows all of the possible or logical relationships between sets, or groups of things. They are most often represented by overlapping circles. (According to this one I found on a Google images search, humans *may* eat bugs.)

Here’s another great example of the Venn (by Jessica Hagy of Indexed):

If the circles don’t intersect, then it’s not a Venn diagram… which can be a very sad thing if you’re a circle (by Threadless T-Shirts.)

Euler Diagrams (Leonhard Euler), on the other hand, are diagrams used to represent sets and their relationships- not necessarily made up of intersecting circles. Euler diagrams may overlap or not.

This example of the Euler Diagram explains the geographic terminology used in that area of the eastern Atlantic that confuses Americans. Quite interesting, if you ask me.
